DOWNTOWN — Day three of Lollapalooza is officially delayed, festival organizers announced via social media Saturday morning. According to an earlier banner on the Lolla website: “DOORS DELAY UPDATE: At this time, our plan is to open doors at 3pm, with the Box Office opening at 1pm. Please stay tuned for further updates.” Lollapalooza will open its doors at 3 p.m., a four-hour delay, due to continued rain showers across the city. Around 1:40 p.m., Lolla released the updated Saturday schedule. The evening’s scheduled headliners — including Olivia Dean, DJ Trixie Mattel and Jennie — as well as Geese and local DJ Whethan are still on the schedule, but the Sunday (1994), Chezile, Wisp and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra are among the acts that got cut. Some acts have abbreviated sets; Wolf Alice’s is now 30 minutes. A text message from the festival stated, “Grant Park is muddy, so come prepared. Wear waterproof shoes you don’t mind getting wet and muddy, be patient as you make your way around the grounds, and most importantly — bring all the positive vibes.” Images on social media sites like Reddit show a lot of water on the Lolla grounds. Chicago is under a flood watch until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Rain showers are expected throughout the day and into the early evening hours. Currently, there is no rain in the forecast for Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
